Finally, the weather is heating up in Souderton and all of Pennsylvania and soon enough you will be switching that heat off and turning the air conditioning on! But before you make the switch, is your HVAC system ready for the air conditioner to kick in for the first time this spring? From the A/C specialists in Pennsylvania, here are a few tips before you turn on the AC this spring.
Make sure the outdoor unit is clean
Trim back any trees, bushes or shrubs that have grown in and are touching the ac unit.
Use a soft brush to remove dirt and other accumulated debris on the outside of the unit.
Make sure the slab of concrete the unit is sitting on is level.
For those who have window units in the home, make sure to clean or replace filters and then continue to do so once a month during the warm weather season. For larger HVAC units, you may want to have your HVAC specialist perform an internal cleaning that includes switching the filter.
Upgrade for energy efficiency
HVAC systems, even if just under 10 years old are not going to be as energy efficient as newer models. What does this mean for you? Well, the higher the energy efficiency means the more money you will save in cooling costs this summer. Also, you will be using less resources to maintain a cool home even during the hottest summer days. Ask us about energy efficient air conditioning units!
